About

The White Bed is a functional block that players place to establish a spawn point and sleep through the night. It occupies two block spaces when placed and requires both spaces to be empty. A player who dies after sleeping in a bed will respawn at that location on their next death, unless they sleep in a different bed or the original bed is destroyed.

Beds are not stackable, so each one takes a full inventory slot. On servers, admins typically use the give command to hand out beds during setup or to replace one that a player has lost. Sleeping in a bed at night skips the darkness and hostile mob spawning period, advancing to dawn automatically if all players in the world are in beds simultaneously.
