About
Lead is a crafted or found item that lets you leash passive and neutral mobs. Attach it to a mob by right-clicking with the lead in hand, then attach the other end to a fence post, fence gate, or training hook to keep the mob in place. A leashed mob stays put even when you log off, making leads invaluable for moving animals across your server or setting up mob corrals.
Leads stack up to 64 and can be recovered by removing the leash knot. They break if the tethered mob moves too far away or if you cut the lead with a knife. Admins can spawn them individually with /give @p minecraft:lead 1 or in bulk by increasing the count parameter.
