About

Infested Cobblestone looks identical to normal cobblestone but contains a hidden silverfish. When you mine it without Silk Touch, break it with a piston, or let it be destroyed by any other means, a silverfish spawns in its place. If you do use Silk Touch, you retrieve the infested block itself without triggering the silverfish.

Admins typically use infested blocks in mob traps, puzzle maps, and challenge builds. Because silverfish are small and fast, infested cobblestone is an effective way to punish careless mining or add surprise difficulty to a structure. The block stacks to 64 and can be obtained with the /give command for quick placement.
