About

The Chest is the most basic storage block in Minecraft. Place it on any surface to open a 3×3 grid (27 slots) where you can store items. Each slot holds up to 64 of a stackable item. You can place two chests side by side to create a double chest with 54 slots total.

Chests are fully recoverable, break one with any tool (or your hand) and it drops as an item you can pick up and place elsewhere. They work in any dimension and are not affected by mob griefing or water. Placing a chest next to a solid block on one of its long sides will prevent the chest from expanding into a double when you place a second chest there.
