About

The Bee Nest is a naturally occurring block that spawns in trees and houses wild bee colonies. Unlike the player-crafted Beehive, it cannot be created in a crafting recipe, it only appears in the world during generation. You can mine it with any tool, but it will drop nothing and destroy the bees inside unless you use the Silk Touch enchantment.

On a server, admins hand out Bee Nests to players who want to establish bee farms or preserve colonies. The block is soft (hardness 0.3) and stacks to 64, making it easy to distribute in bulk. Use /give @p minecraft:bee_nest 1 to spawn one directly into a player's inventory.
